Departure in the morning towards Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece. In Greek mythology it was regarded as “home of the 12 Olympian gods”. Its highest peak is called Mytikas (2918,8 m). Mount Olympus is noted for its very rich flora and fauna with several endemic species. Our first stop is in Litochoro, which took the name City of Gods, because of its location on the roots of the Olympus mountain. From there we will have a little walk, through the Enipeas Canyon to the Waterfall of Zeus. On our way back we will have a little stop in Litochoro and we continue by visiting the Monastery of St. Dionysios. After that we will visit the Byzantine Castle of Platamonas, situated on the southeast of the Prefecture of Pieria. Our final stop is the Old Village of Panteleimonas, situated on a slope of Olympus with an exceptional view over the Thermaic gulf, where you can admire the traditional houses, built out of stone and wood. We will have lunch in one of the typical tavernas of the village. Finally we will return from our journey in the early afternoon.
